Custard Apple
The almost-white coloured flesh has a consistency similar to a ripe pear matched with a subtle, creamy, custard-like taste. A custard apple is ripe if it gives slightly when gently pressed. Custard apples can be bought ready to eat, or still hard to the touch.
Sitaphal or sugar apple is also known as custard apple in India, most widely grown in Maharashtra. The fruit is an excellent source of vitamin C and manganese, high in energy too.
